Start a chat with Raiana

Use Raiana Chat to ask regulatory questions, draft documents, and prepare responses to authorities. Before entering a question, select the applicable Agent, which represents the regulatory framework Raiana should use. The available Agents are MDR, IVDR, FDA, and the European AI Act. Select the framework that applies to your question; the example in this guide uses FDA.

Enter and submit a question

Type your question in the message box at the bottom of the chat. Include enough information about your device, product, or regulatory task for Raiana to understand the context. Submit the question by selecting the arrow at the lower-right of the message box, or press Enter on your keyboard. Raiana then begins processing the request and produces an answer.

Review reasoning, answers, and references

While Raiana is preparing an answer, it displays its reasoning activity in small text. Review this information when useful to follow the direction Raiana is taking and identify a possible incorrect assumption or conclusion. After the reasoning stage, Raiana displays the response. If the response is still scrolling, move upward in the chat to stop following the latest position and read the answer from the beginning.

Regulatory references in the response are underlined. Select an underlined reference, such as 860.7c, to open the cited regulation directly. The reference opens in a new browser tab, where you can inspect the source regulation and check whether Raiana has applied it appropriately to your question.

In your chat, you can find different features for verifying and exporting your chat, which are explained here.

Use the sound notification

Use the loudspeaker icon in the chat controls to turn completion sounds on or off. When sound is enabled, Raiana plays a sound after it finishes a response, which is useful for a request that takes a long time; you can work in another browser window or application and return when you hear the notification. Select the loudspeaker again to disable the sound; the control changes to a mute icon.

Improve a prompt with Prompt Improver

Prompt Improver refines the text currently in the message box so that it is more suitable for use with an AI assistant. Enter a short or incomplete prompt, such as “What about implantables?” and select Prompt Improver. Raiana uses the current conversation together with your text to create a longer, more specific prompt. In addition to improving the immediate request, this feature helps you learn how an effective prompt can include relevant context, such as clinical evidence expectations discussed earlier in the conversation.

Attach information and use additional sources

In Raiana Enterprise, select the paperclip icon to attach files to a conversation. The My Raiana icon retrieves company and product information stored in My Raiana. These controls are separate features and have their own instructions; use them when you need to provide Raiana with enterprise files or information maintained in My Raiana.

Use the globe icon to control Web Search. When Web Search is enabled, Raiana can search reputable websites when needed, including sources that are not yet in its training database and information published on competitor websites. When you need an answer based only on Raiana’s training data, turn Web Search off; the globe is then not illuminated. Consider the training-data date shown in the bottom-left corner of the screen when deciding whether Web Search is needed for newer guidance or other recently published information.

Start, reuse, and review conversations

Select New in the left navigation bar to open a new chat with a clear conversation screen. Use this when you want to begin a separate regulatory task without ending the current discussion. Open Prompt Library to access reusable prompts for common tasks. The library helps you begin recurring regulatory work without rewriting frequently used requests. Prompt Library is covered in more detail in its separate instructions. The chat-history area contains your conversations over time. Select an earlier chat to review its results or continue the discussion from where you left off. Starting a new chat does not by itself remove older conversations; those remain available in the history until you explicitly clear them. The Projects tab is explained here.

Clear conversation history

Select Clear conversations below the chat history only when you intend to remove the entire conversation history. Because this action affects all saved chat history, Raiana displays a confirmation dialogue. If you confirm, the history is deleted and cannot be undone. If you are not certain that you want to remove it, select Cancel in the confirmation dialogue.

Set thinking effort

Use the thinking effort slider to control how much reasoning Raiana applies to an answer. The default Automatic setting allows Raiana to estimate the difficulty of the question and choose the required amount of reasoning. This setting is suitable for most regulatory questions. Choose Low when you need a very fast answer to a simple query. Choose High when the question requires a thorough assessment of the available possibilities and you can allow additional processing time. High thinking effort is a useful situation in which to enable the sound notification, so you can work elsewhere and return when Raiana finishes.

Get technical support and check software

Select Tech support when you encounter a system problem or receive an error. Tech support opens a separate AI-based support bot, not Raiana’s regulatory chat. Start a new conversation there and describe the problem; the support system creates a ticket for the issue so customer support can follow up with you. At the bottom, note the Raiana software version and the date on which its training data was most recently updated. Include the software version when reporting a problem. Use the training-data date to assess whether a regulation, guidance document, or other information was published after Raiana’s training data; when it was published later, enable Web Search to look for the newer information.
